At the end of every decision is an outcome, every single time. But sometimes we don’t have enough time or information, so how can you make smart decisions to create your desired outcome? We may often find ourselves consumed with decision fatigue because we are afraid of the consequences of making the wrong choice. Other times, the product of our actions feels so far away that we cannot even begin to fathom how to make the right decision. Instead of obsessing over finding the right answer, today’s guest, Catherine Ulrich, encourages us to start by asking “Who do I want to be?” and taking a long hard look at all of the outcomes, especially the less desirable ones. This isn’t to prepare for the worst, but rather, to assess the worst-case scenario in detail to stop it from having any reign over our lives at this moment. When we keep the different possibilities in mind, we always know what we’re walking into and how to behave accordingly. At the end of the day, our energy dictates our thoughts and feelings. Instead of allowing ourselves to get caught up in overwhelming feelings, we must understand why we are afraid, the steps we can take to overcome that fear, and why that fear is much bigger in our heads than it is in reality. In This Episode, You Will Learn: How to find confidence in your own voice (03:49) Defining “who you want to be” rather than “what you want to do” (11:19) How to create a culture of radical candor and transparency (18:59) Learning to break down big lofty goals into more feasible steps (24:24) Anticipating failure and preventing self-sabotage (27:09) Growing out of relationships and how to accept the new phases of your lives (37:38) Energy and the ways your energy affects others (40:49) Creating your own model of leadership in a male-dominated field (47:55) Plus much more… Some Questions I Ask: Were you and are you a perfectionist? (07:02) Do you believe in models like the 80/20 rule? (09:11) How do you balance giving hard feedback when sometimes it can also put you in a place of vulnerability? (18:58) How do take the pressure off decisions that feel high stakes? (24:24) Do these feasible steps apply in terms of how you evaluate the thought process of an entrepreneur? (28:46) How have your relationships and friendships evolved over time? (35:25) What does it take for people to find that space to be okay with looking inside? Enoughness with Lisa Carmen Wang
Everyone’s felt it. The voice in your head reminding you that you don’t belong. That voice can be quiet at times and deafening at others, and it seems that the only way to shut it down is by gaining the validation of others. When someone validates you, those negative thoughts are silenced, but only temporarily. The real remedy is to commit to living consciously. In other words, to actively choose how you live your life without allowing others’ opinions to dictate your priorities. My guest today is Cat Hernandez. She is a Partner at The Venture Collective and a long time operator and investor. She believes that venture capitalists are responsible for investing in companies that are creating a positive impact and reducing inequality in society. In this episode, we discuss: What it means to be free and the American dream The mental fatigue that comes with being a woman in a male-dominated industry Overcoming Imposter syndrome and discomfort in career and life The difference between healthy and toxic external validation Cat’s experience growing up in Saudi Arabia, as a woman How Cat stays motivated, focused, and self-aware The importance of diversity in the workplace Want to work with Lisa? Enoughness with Lisa Carmen Wang
The fear of failure is often more paralyzing than actually failing. Fear is what holds us back, not failure. Fear keeps us from living our truth and acting on new ideas. Failure gives us the opportunity to learn from our mistakes and apply our learnings to something better. Where would any of us be if we always let the fear of failure be bigger than the opportunity to succeed? When we visualize the future, our anxieties can feel so physically heavy on our shoulders that it keeps us stagnant. Often, we look at other people, and deeply believe that we could never do what they did. In this Enoughness episode, Lisa chats with Tina Cheng, a serial entrepreneur and mother, about how she’s shed the fears of starting a new business and how she’s allowed herself to explore the unknown. They explore how building multiple businesses and experiencing both success and failure shaped her into the woman she is today. They discuss: How to let failure guide you to success How to learn to trust and believe in yourself and your abilities How to release guilt as a career-driven mother How to find happiness and enoughness while working for yourself --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/enoughness-lisa-wang/support…
Traditional love stories make us believe that two people fall in love and live happily ever after. The reality of modern dating is the exact opposite - failed communication, suboptimal timing, bad texting, cheating, and misunderstandings - every once in awhile a love story succeeds, but now, even the definition of a successful relationship is up for interpretation. A ring on her finger and a nice house are no longer the ultimate goals, and as more women prioritize their careers and become financially independent, what does a real partner look like? In this episode, Lisa chats with award-winning storyteller Vika Viktoria about how they are reclaiming their voices and re-writing their own life stories - romantically, professionally, and personally. They discuss: How to bring love into your life without without a partner Why healthy masculinity is so important How to set boundaries and prioritize self-worth and respect in dating The concept of antifragility and how to use it in re-writing your narrative Feeling enough even when you have big ambitions and goals Full show notes at: Lisawang.co/enoughness --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/enoughness-lisa-wang/support…
Every narrative we tell ourselves benefits us in some way - even the negative ones. It's easy to take the role of the victim. When we normalize negative self-talk and blaming other people for our problems, we forsake the burden of responsibility for our own lives. It's easier to sit back, but in doing so we also give up our #power and #agency. How the feeling of not being enough drives us How to replace passive negativity with proactive confidence and action How to identify and release narratives that are no longer serving us How to achieve "Fierce Focus" to prioritize the things that matter most In this week's episode of the #Enoughness podcast Lisa conducts a live coaching session with several female leaders in her coaching program. Without realizing it, most of us fall into the rat race. Chasing a life that we believe is shinier, better than our present one. But what is it that you're chasing? Is it more money? More recognition? More awards? And if so, what would attaining those things bring you? Would it make you feel validated? Would it make you feel powerful and successful? In this episode, we discuss how to examine our goals and release our attachments to external validation and ego. Once we do, we can discover that these are sensations and feeling states that we already have within us. Nothing external can categorize or define us. Shalini Sarena Bahad is an international mindset coach, yoga teacher, holistic healer and entrepreneur. She believes deeply in the importance of taking care of yourself and keeping healthy along your growth and ascension journey. We discuss: Why releasing your attachment to the ego is so important Why focusing on future ‘Potential’ can be detrimental to the present How to slow down and reconnect with your authentic self --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/enoughness-lisa-wang/support…
Maitland Ward is a pornographic actress, formerly known as Rachel on the popular 90’s TV show Boy Meets World . When she hit her 30's, Maitland started feeling Hollywood’s pressure to suppress her sexuality. Instead of accepting the roles forced on her, she made the decision to dive into the adult film industry and reclaim her sexual power. Maitland is the recipient of XBIZ Award for Best Actress in a Feature Movie, based off her most recent film Drive. Today she is building the bridge between mainstream and pornographic entertainment, releasing women from the sexual shame that has pervaded society for far too long. In this episode you will hear about: How she followed her joy for performance & navigated the early stages of her acting career How she gained confidence to reject mainstream Hollywood standards for women and take the leap into adult film Her experience working in the porn industry and making award-winning features The ever-evolving conversation around sexuality, art, and women’s bodies For full episode notes, go to: LisaWang.co/enoughness Subscribe: https://herpower.substack.com Follow: https://www.instagram.com/lisacarmenwang/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/enoughness-lisa-wang/support…
Lisa realizes she has been contradicting her own advice around enoughness. In her first public confession as an overachiever, she owns up to the reality that she continues to struggle with not feeling good enough, and even when she thought she overcame the feeling, it came back to slap her in the face. In the midst of trying to scale her business, write multiple books, and launch several new projects, Lisa faces the hard fact that sometimes trying to do it all doesn’t lead to more success, just more exhaustion. She discusses: Unhealthy patterns of perfectionism and self-imposed pressure How workaholism is like digging your own grave Feeling shitty when you compare yourself to other people Why being an introvert is hard How wellness and self-care “experts” can make you feel inadequate Trying to be present and enjoy life while still striving for big goals Work with Lisa: https://lisawang.co Subscribe: https://herpower.substack.com Follow : https://www.instagram.com/lisacarmenwang/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/enoughness-lisa-wang/support…

1:00:46Curiosity has the power to remind us that there is always more to learn, there's always more ahead of us. Oftentimes when we fall into the trap of negative thinking, we do so because we let cynicism take over our perceptions rather than allowing ourselves to remain curious about the lessons that we can learn from any experience whether positive or negative. In many instances, curiosity helps us overcome fear even more than bravery. When you start following curiosity, it becomes an exciting adventure rather than an external pressure to achieve or fit in. There's no such thing as overnight success, and there's no easy route to finding your passion or purpose. All of these take time and a consistent curiosity about all that life has to offer. Today's guest is Kara Goldin. She is the founder and CEO of hint, a US flavored water company that is valued at over $100M. She has been named Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business, one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs, Forbes’ 40 Over 40, and more. There has never been a more critical need for empathetic leaders who truly care about their communities. Leadership is no longer about being the toughest or the strongest. In his book, The Art of Loving, Philosopher Erich Fromm wrote, “There is hardly any activity, any enterprise, which is started with such tremendous hopes and expectations, and yet, which fails so regularly, as love.” This is especially true in modern love and dating. We have never had so many options to find love, and yet have never been so lost in knowing how to cultivate it. Too often we jump into dating without actually having any knowledge around what it is that we want. We jump in expecting that if it's the right love, It will be effortless. But the truth is just like anything else worth pursuing, finding and creating a lasting love requires work, effort, and commitment. If we want to find the best person for us, we need to first commit to being the best version of ourselves. The energy we put out, is the energy we will attract. Dawoon Kang is the Co-founder and CEO of Coffee Meets Bagel, a dating app that prides itself on helping users create meaningful connections. In this episode, Dawoon talks about: The similarities between being a better dater and being a better leader How to view the dating journey as a personal growth journey The importance of communication, empathy, and emotional intelligence in creating successful relationships and high-performing teams Join The GLOW Leadership Program: https://theglow.org/coaching Connect with Lisa at https://www.lisawang.co/ and https://www.linkedin.com/in/lisacarmenwang/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/enoughness-lisa-wang/support…
