The Red Sox finished their 6-Game Road Trip with an 8-3 loss to the Mets at Citi Field Wednesday night. The Red Sox went 1-5 on their trip through Detroit and New York and have lost 5 in a row for the 1st time this season and have now been swept 6 times this season and for the 3rd time on the road.

On the Board 1st: Tanner Houck got off to a rough start Wednesday night. The Sox starter allowed the 1st 3 hitters to reach with a pair of singles and a walk. After Houck struck out Pete Alonso, he allowed a Grand Slam to Jesse Winker. Houck retired the next 2 batters and went on to retire 13 in a row at 1 point and he also struck out 6 straight hitters during that stretch. Houck gave up a couple of hits with 2 outs in the 5th, but stranded both runners to end his night.

Sox on the Board: The Red Sox scored all 3 of their runs and got to within a run in the 3rd against Mets starter Tylor MeGill. Jarren Duran had an RBI Double (#44) and Rafael Devers and Wilyer Abreu both picked up RBIs with Sacrifice Flies.

Put It Away in the 8th: Kenley Jansen and Rich Hill combined to walk 5 hitters, including 3 with the bases loaded, in the 8th inning. Mets put the game out of reach with 4 more runs in their final turn at-bat.

Hitting Into 2!: The Sox had base runners in the 5th, 6th and again in the 7th but failed to score any of the innings. Rafael Devers hit into an inning-ending Double Play to end the 5th. Tristan Casas hit into an inning-ending Double Play to end the 6th. Romy Gonzalez, up as a Pinch-Hitter, hit into a 4-6-3 Double Play to end the 7th. Devers has now hit into a team-high 12 GDIPs this season.

Grand Slams: The Grand Slam in the 1st Inning off the bat of Jesse Winker was the 8th Grand Slam allowed by Red Sox pitchers this season. The Sox are still without a Grand Slam this season. Thanks to The Bill Chuck Files (@BillyBall via the X) on Wednesday...he shared the Sox are 0-for-98 in Grand Slam "opportunities" this season.

A Look Ahead: The Red Sox return to Boston and will enjoy an off day on Thursday. The Sox open up a 6-Game Homestand with the 1st of 3 against the Chicago White Sox Friday night. The Orioles and Red Sox will start a 3-Game Series at Fenway on Monday night.
