Where else but Queensland! Meet our guest, Natascha Mirosch, Freelance Food & Travel Journalist & Podcaster at ExtraVirgin Food & Travel Podcast "I was bitten by the travel bug extremely early and as a child indulged my curiosity by ringing random numbers in countries like Alaska or the Congo and asking whoever answered questions about their country (until my parents figured out why their phone bill was always so high.) So, becoming a travel writer was a natural progresssion. I like to go 'off-piste' when I travel; the countries 'next door' to popular destinations; the third cities, the dusty museums in tiny towns, the quirky festivals, the homely and the homecooked. I travel like I eat - never satiated, forever over-ordering (or overplanning) in an effort trying to cram in as much as possible. Life is too short to stay at home or to say no to cannoli for breakfast, right?" Some of my recent faves were a weekend in Maitland, on the Hunter River, and the adorable nearby town of Morpeth. I was super impressed by Maitland's historic buildings, amazing craft beer selection at a historic pub, and how they're working hard to make it vibrant Earlier this year, I did a weekend with my partner and two friends - all of us with different accents (Brit/Malaysian/American/German). You can imagine we stuck out a bit when we were at a bar in Bathurst. A local struck up a convo with me and told me about the cute town of Millthorpe. It did not disappoint! Full of little shops and historic buildings, you can take the train there from Sydney. It's on my list to get a house for the weekend with friends after lockdown. I also love the craft brewery in Dungog! The tiniest town, you can tell the pub is THE place to be. Great food, great beer, super welcoming locals. It's a must-visit if you find yourself near Myall Lakes or Barrington Tops.
