From boardrooms to studios, kitchens to coding dens, we explore the multifaceted experiences of today's woman, confirming that the new definition of "woman's work" is whatever feels authentic, true, and right for you. We're shedding expectations, setting aside the "shoulds", giving our finger to the "supposed tos". We're torching the old playbook and writing our own rules. Who runs the world? You decide. 1 Outdoor Quickie - Embracing the Rule of Thirds: Navigating the Ups and Downs of Pursuing Big Goals 19:58
In this Outdoor Quickie, Jen and Dyana dive into the "Rule of Thirds," a concept shared by Olympian runner Alexi Pappas during an interview with Idea Generation. Pappas recalls advice from her coach during her training for the Rio Olympics. After a particularly tough day, when she felt like giving up, her coach reassured her, explaining that in the pursuit of any big goal, you're supposed to feel great 1/3 of the time, okay 1/3 of the time, and lousy 1/3 of the time. If your experience balances out that way, you're right where you need to be. Her coach emphasized that a bad day was just part of the journey. In the episode, both Jen and Dyana share their experiences with the Rule of Thirds and how they apply it in their lives. Will 'Akuna' Robinson is all about those good vibes and embodies the very definition of redefining oneself. This Army Veteran found long-distance hiking as a way to heal and inspire others to 'go for it all.' Akuna has gained attention as the first black male to complete the Triple Crown of Hiking, having successfully hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (2017), Appalachian Trail (2018), and the Continental Divide Trail (2019). His journey has become a mission not just for personal healing but also to share the therapeutic power of nature with veterans, people of color, and everyone who does not fit the stereotype of an outdoorsy person. Akuna is undoubtedly way cooler than Jen and Dyana. Callie is a scavenger-gatherer who lives nomadically following the seasons and wild food. She made a name for herself after competing in Season 7 of the History Channel’s hit reality-survival show “Alone,” where she survived 89 days alone in the Arctic. Callie currently lives in the woods of Montana with her herd of goats and teaches a handful of wilderness immersion courses. Callie’s main focus has been in backcountry animal processing, hide tanning, felting, basket weaving, gathering plants for medicine, food and art. Jen and Dyana without a doubt will never be as cool as Callie. “Alone” Season 7 can be found on Amazon, History Channel, Hulu, and many other major cable streaming networks. In this episode, we chat with Tommy Corey, a remarkable individual who embodies the spirit of both a Thru-Hiker and a Portrait Photographer. Tommy is on a quest, called "100 Humans of the Outdoors," where he endeavors to illuminate the remarkable stories of those who have wholeheartedly embraced nature. During his own transformative journey along the Pacific Crest Trail, Tommy coined the ingenious phrase "Hiker Trash Vogue." The concept involved capturing the essence of long-distance hikers, who, despite their rugged lifestyle, exuded an air of high-fashion sophistication. Fueled by this unique experience, Tommy resolved to dedicate himself to the noble cause of chronicling the lives of individuals who wholeheartedly embrace the boundless wonders of the great outdoors.
