This month, we are joined by Kieran Moulton, a second year PhD student at the Centre for Appearance Research, who tells us all about his research into tattooing and scars (so far!) Kieran discusses two studies, looking into the experiences of tattoo artists who have provided scar tattoos, and the experiences of those who have used tattoos to either decorate or camouflage their scars. To find out more about Kieran's research, here is a link to his 2021 paper 'Exploring tattoo artists’ understanding of decorative non-medical professional tattooing as a method of scar camouflage and decoration' (Moulton, 2021): https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/13548506.2022.2057556 To find out about how tattooing can be used in the medical field, head over to episode 61: https://soundcloud.com/appearance-matters/medical-tattooing Please share, subscribe, rate and review.
