You're listening to Bardtenders! In this episode of "The Mixing Glass", Sarah Karl talks about mobile bartending, owning a small business, and the future of the hospitality industry.
Sarah began her bartending career at Scarlett O'Hara's in downtown St. Augustine in 2014, when Mumford & Sons ROCKED the city. Building on two years of serving experience and a deepening passion for bartending, Sarah fully immersed herself in the craft. Following the acquisition of Scarlett O'Hara's by a company specializing in craft cocktails, Sarah enhanced her skills in quality ingredients and advanced techniques, which she later applied at Barley Republic, further expanding her expertise in beer and whiskey.

In late 2018, Sarah joined the Ice Plant, where she honed her craft cocktail skills until a COVID-related furlough in March 2020. During this period, she and her partner launched a food and beverage Instagram account to explore the changing F&B landscape. After a brief tenure as a Beverage Manager, Sarah chose to focus entirely on McKarl’s Libations in February 2021.

McKarl’s, which began as a social media food and beverage concept, has since evolved into a thriving hospitality company. McKarl's is committed to delivering exceptional service and innovative cocktails, offering bar program consulting, and fostering connections between consumers and brands. After three years into this journey, they continue to experience significant growth.

As they continue to expand, Sarah is excited about their ambitious plans for the future. She is committed to making a meaningful impact in both her local community and the broader hospitality industry.
