Ephesians 2:20
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. - KJV
The ancient Nicene creed says the Church is One, Holy, Universal and Apostolic. The 4th Creed and the above verse imply that the Apostles were foundational stones while Jesus Christ remains the Chief Cornerstone. The Apostolic foundation also implies that the Gospel (Good News), the Person, and the Work of Jesus Christ define a Church.
