In this episode of the Fire, Soul, and Grace podcast, Dr. Kristi Tompkins interviews Kate Vazquez, a former physician assistant who transitioned into functional medicine. Kate is the founder of Radiant by Design, an approach that combines functional medicine, human design, and nervous system regulation for deeper, holistic healing for her female clients.

Having struggled with migraines, anxiety and digestive disorders for many years, Kate has turned her own health issues and pain into a greater sense of purpose.

Kate Vasquez discusses the significance of mindset, gratitude and embracing change throughout the journey of personal growth and healing. Kate emphasizes learning from changes, challenges and setbacks and viewing them as opportunities for growth and personal transformation.

Kate emphasizes that gratitude extends beyond being thankful for the good things in life; it also includes being grateful for the challenges and obstacles we face. She encourages us to shift our perspective and view these challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. By reframing our mindset and finding gratitude even in difficult situations, we can cultivate a more positive and resilient outlook on life.

A healthy mindset and a gratitude practice can significantly affect our physical health, regulate our nervous system and even alleviate pain in the body. Gratitude helped Kate to shift out of a state of anxiety and overwhelm, which was often a trigger for her migraines. This highlights the connection between our emotional well-being and physical health.

Kate teaches her clients about the deeper, influential and guiding principles of Human Design. According to human design, there are four main energy types: manifestors, generators, projectors, and reflectors. Each type has unique characteristics and ways of operating in the world. Manifestors are here to initiate and make things happen, while generators are the doers with sustainable energy. Projectors, like Kate, are here to guide and lead others, and reflectors are rare and reflect the health of the environment.

Understanding our energy type helps us better understand how we operate in the world and how we can best utilize our energy. For example, generators and manifesting generators thrive when they find satisfaction in their actions. They have abundant energy and can keep going as long as they engage in activities that bring them joy and fulfillment. Projectors, on the other hand, have a more limited energy supply and need breaks throughout the day to recharge. Recognizing and honoring our energy type optimizes our productivity and overall well-being.

Human design also provides insights into our decision-making process. Each energy type has a different authority, which is the best way for them to make decisions. For example, projectors like Kate have a "mental splitting" authority, meaning they are highly intuitive and should make decisions based on their gut feelings. Other types may have emotional or sacral authorities. Understanding our authority helps us make decisions in alignment with our true selves.

By understanding our human design, we gain valuable insights into our energy type, decision-making process, and alignment with our true selves. It allows us to embrace our unique gifts and operate authentically and fulfillingly. Human design is a powerful tool for personal growth and self-discovery, helping us navigate life with clarity and purpose.

The podcast episode between Dr. Kristi Tompkins and Kate Vazquez emphasizes the importance of being open to infinite possibilities for health, healing and true happiness - functional medicine, mindset and human design - for a more meaningful, fulfilled life.
