Not Making a Decision Is Still Making a Decision
Manage episode 290942376 series 2917637
In this episode Nate & Ethan discuss how not making a decision (commitment) is actually still making a decision (commitment).
Jesus said "Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one." in Matthew 5:37. A common misconception is that if we don't commit to doing something we are in more control and of our time. We've all heard ourselves and our friends say, "I'll try to be there" for that party or "I'll try to get that done in time." or the overly common "I'll see if I have enough time.". Unfortunately when we say things like "I'll try." we are really saying "I don't want to say Yes and I also don't want to say No. This misconception is the lie that we are able to not make a decision; when in reality we are making a very powerful decision. The reality is that when we say 'No' to one thing we are actually saying 'Yes' to something else. However, many times we don't know what that other thing is or we haven't given a name to that other thing and so we make powerful decisions with little strategy or little conviction on how it will affect us.
This week SEND IT by being intentional of what decisions you are making. Either do it or don't do it. But know what you are saying yes to!
SUB SEND IT: Decide what you are doing and then KEEP THAT DECISION. Don't upgrade it or try to find a better decision. Stay committed to your commitments.
