Erika speaks to Ivana about the role of basketball in her life, her Sports Diplomacy research, and why it is important to include youth at the decision making table.
Ivana Pranjić is a former Austrian basketball champion who has experienced the power of sport at a very young age. Ivana is currently pursuing her PhD in Sports Diplomacy at the German Sport University Cologne, examining the topic of “Chances and limitations of Sports Diplomacy in South East Europe”. She also serves as the Project Manager for ENGSO Youth’s Sport for Sustainable Development project, with the SDGs at the core of the work. Previously, Ivana worked as the Public Relations Manager of the Austrian National Team, UEFA Communications Specialist for EURO2020, and the Project Manager for the International Center for Sport Security. She also brings experiences as an athlete, coach, and referee, and feels she has seen the good and the bad. She is deeply interested in sport for development, sports diplomacy, gender equality and youth empowerment.
