Setting goals is a fundamental aspect of teaching your child to read. However, simply having goals is not enough; they must be structured in a way that makes them achievable and meaningful.

I have definitely set several generic goals in the past such as “I will read books with my child more” or “I will practice reading with Naomi more” and those things didn’t really happen because there was not a clear road to what success was.

When I set SMART goals and shared them with my kids or my students, they excelled because they “understood the assignment.” Haha! Today we are going to learn about Making SMART Reading Goals for your Child. Let’s Dig in!
