Every tenant in one Healdsburg apartment building received an eviction notice. Now, the city is looking at how to protect its renters.
The city of Healdsburg stalled on an urgency ordinance that would have required landlords to pay up to 7,000 dollars in relocation fees when evicting residents without just cause or when increasing the rent by more than ten percent. The ordinance was brought to the council after five families were evicted from the Piper Street apartment complex. Reporter Adia White tells us more about the evictions that sparked the ordinance and why it was tabled.
