Emily Carroll is a nurse and mother to six little children. She had different experiences with every pregnancy.
Emily started out her pregnancy journey carrying twins! She is a very small person, 5’3 with a small frame. She carried twins to 39 weeks and 6 days. Everyone around her told her that she would not progress to full term, but she did. She was emotional about carrying these twins to full term. But she did it.
She then carried a little girl, a little boy was next, and then another little baby boy. She had three pregnancies in three years. And then after a four-year gap, she delivered a baby boy.
Emily explains that every birth and pregnancy was different, and she wants you to know that your experiences will also be unique.
Emily was a first-time mama carrying twins, and she was always asking questions. She would get different answers from different people. So, she had to figure out how to prepare in the correct way.
Emily explains that first-time mamas have a lot of pressure to learn all that they can about the babies inside of the womb. It is important to be prepared and be educated. How can a mama get prepared?
Emily had trusted sources in her life. She also had many copies of What to Expect When You’re Expecting. There is a slew of information on the internet that can cause a first-time mom to become overwhelmed.
“All of the information out there can be super overwhelming. You feel like you are drinking from a fire hydrant sometimes!”
It is difficult to know which source is trusted versus “just found on the internet”. This can produce anxiety, especially when internet information is different from what people say happened in their story.
Who is mama supposed to talk to about these fears and anxieties? Sometimes women go into the office for a visit and the nurses don’t explain what is going on in the mama’s body. And it can be hard to get answers from the busy doctor or midwife.
It is important to be diligent and be intentional to find a trusted source. Stick with that trusted source once you find one. This will make a huge difference in changing anxiety to calmness, and overwhelmed to confidence.
How do we as Mamas get that trusted source? We have got you covered, Mama. Pearently is your trusted source.
