In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio following up on their conversation with USC athletic director Jen Cohen about the Trojans NIL efforts. The guys talk about the current state of NIL for the Trojans and the ever changing landscape Cohen talked about in our interview, with the attorney generals from Virginia and Tennessee now suing the NCAA alleging that their restrictions on high school or NCAA Transfer Portal players receiving compensation from collectives is illegal.

The NCAA has attempted to put "guardrails" around NIL compensation and players ability to transfer and every time it does the courts have got involved. This latest lawsuit would allow schools to use NIL as an inducement for recruits and transfers, a practice currently not allowed according to the NCAA.

USC is one of the programs that has followed all of the NCAA rules when it comes to NIL compensation being used as an inducement in the recruiting process. If these lawsuits are successful and the NCAA drops the inducement rule, it would open up the door for the Trojans to attempt to play the same game some of their rivals are playing.

The guys also talk about the Trojan football coaches hitting the recruiting trail hard with the new defensive staff really picking things up quickly.
