This show features Prof Roger Scully, Prof Laura McAllister and Nye Davies of Thinking Wales. We discuss the results of the Welsh Political Barometer published on 1st June 2017 which seems to suggest that after weeks of volatile polling, the 2017 General Election seems to be drifting towards a two party contest in Wales, with projected votes for the Conservatives and Labour at their highest levels for 30 years. We also discuss questions of leadership in both Labour and the Conservatives as well as the challenges facing the media and public when political parties mix devolved and non-devolved issues in their manifestos. We also finish with a real shock - Prof. Scully makes a prediction, not a projection about the upcoming contest in WalesProf. Scully’s blog post about these results: blogs.cardiff.ac.uk/electionsinwale…est-welsh-poll/ Thinking Wales: blogs.cardiff.ac.uk/thinking-wales/ Blurrt Podcast ‘Political Mosh Pit’: www.spreaker.com/user/bengomedia/…and-more-debates Guardian Election Daily (Owen Jones says that Labour’s Brexit strategy has been validated): www.theguardian.com/politics/audio/…n-daily-podcast BBC Wales Leaders Debate: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0…e-with-huw-edwards Stephen Cushion writes about the media’s challenges reporting on mixed devolved and non-devolved issues during an election: theconversation.com/broadcast-elect…ed-issues-78431 Prof. McAllister’s Blog, including constituency profiles: medium.com/@LauraMcAllister To receive the next show automatically, please subscribe and rate our show in your podcast player of choice.
