Sharon Prentis talks to Alison about a book that she has recently edited called 'Every Tribe: Stories of Diverse Saints Serving a Diverse World'. The book celebrates the true diversity of the saints and encourages, what the book describes as, "the rainbow people of God". Apologies for the quality of sound. We are working on this.
Sharon says: "I believe passionately in community and that every person has value and worth. God values creation and humanity is the culmination of his love. For me, this is translated in the way we care for one another, those around us and the planet. As recipients of that all-encompassing love the church should be outward facing, and our mission is to show the love of God by getting actively involved in all areas of life. If we are to be inclusive, our narrative about God’s love should be embodied, as evidenced in our commitment to social justice: equality and inclusion, the equitable distribution of material wealth, care of the vulnerable and looking after creation. It saddens me when I see a group that is not representative. I challenge myself and others by asking the question, ‘who is missing?’"
