Gabby Thomas talks to Alison about her research with small groups of women across different denominations and what she learnt from it.

Gabby is a lecturer in Early Christianity and Anglican Studies at Yale Divinity School. She is ordained in the CofE but has moved the US for a few years. She says that she loves teaching at Yale: the students are fantastic and moving to the U.S. is an adventure. Her academic work is integrated with faith so in one way or another her research is related to human flourishing. As a result of her research, her book is being published called For the Good of the Church: Unity, Theology and Women, which talks about her research of working with Christian women from different churches.

Gabby’s book For the Good of the Church: Unity, Theology and Women is published by SCM Press on 28th February 2021. There is an online event to celebrate the book’s launch on Monday 8th March 2021 5.30-6.45 GMT, which just happens to be International Women's Day. As well as Gabby, it features Paula Gooder and Tina Beattie. If you would like to attend, you will need Zoom details—to receive them register at https://centreforcatholicstudies.eventbrite.com

If you would like to buy the book, there is a discount available but we do not know when the discount code expires so if you find the link and it no longer works, I’m afraid that you are too late. Here’s the link: http://bit.ly/GOODWOMEN Enter the code GOODWOMEN to get a 20% discount.

Our History

Alison & Grace were having a conversation in the summer of 2019 about podcasts and they weren't aware of any at the time that spoke to their context, so they decided to set one up. You can hear more about their thinking about the podcast on the Introductions episode.

Grace & Alison worked on the podcast together for the first year but Grace had other commitments that meant she had to give the podcast up, so from February 2021 the podcast is carrying on without her. We were hoping to have a new co-host by now so do pray about who it could be. Could it be you?

If you have any comments, please let us know at RecoveringGodPodcast@gmail.com.

With thanks to Dan Lawrence who wrote and performed our tune & Lawrence Dinh who produced it.

The Recovering God Podcast has been in existence since the summer of 2019. The team has changed over those years but we're delighted to still be offering relevant discussions covering the broad topics of feminism and the Christian faith!
