This episode highlights innovations from this year’s 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), including a revolutionary way of monitoring heart health, a robot that can read and react to human facial expressions, and a possible remote patient monitoring ecosystem that can help address medical professional shortages in rural areas.
This show (recorded on February 15, 2024) included the following guests in the order they presented:
Dr. Anna Barnacka, Founder and CEO of MindMics, which brings scientific expertise to wearable tech to help with managing our health (and especially our hearts). Similar to an earbud (and using the ear as a speaker), this award winning product is moving quickly from monitoring to actually helping with diagnosis of cardiovascular issues. With heart disease being the number one killer worldwide, interesting and revolutionary ways of monitoring heart health are in high demand. Exhibitor in the AgeTech Collaborative from AARP Pavilion.
Mohammad H. Mahoor Ph.D, Founder and CEO of Dreamfacetech.com, and the robot Ryan (which Co-Host Linda Sherman saw in action at CES – leading a yoga session)! Mohammed’s specialty in the emotional side of machine learning helped to develop Ryan’s recognition, empathy, and engagement based on our facial expressions and voices. Ryan is being trialed in several primary and residential living environments, where he is proving to ease interactions with older adults and even autistic children. Winner Consumer Technology Association Foundation Eureka Park accessibility award.
Tanya Perkins, Chief Operating Officer of Tembo Health, which provides support to skilled nursing facilities and independent homes (often located in rural areas) through a combination of passive remote monitoring, coordinated care, and virtual emergency care. Often covered by insurance and/or long-term healthcare providers, Tembo Health pairs family caregivers with a care navigator who helps address the gaps that are not being met, including with dementia care. Exhibitor in the AgeTech Collaborative from AARP Pavilion.
All great innovations from caring companies!
