Should You Bother Improving Sleep Hygiene for Better Physical & Mental Health

Sleep hygiene - the practice of creating good sleep habits and environments to improve your quality of sleep. Sounds simple enough.
But is it… REALLY?!? Dun dun DUUUUNN!! (kind of hard to write that sound effect, but hopefully you get what we’re going for).
We’ve probably all heard of the various ways to get better sleep. No technology before bed, avoid caffeine, don’t eat too much.. blah blah, fuc*ing blah. What makes practicing sleep hygiene so hard is because those are the exact things we all want to binge in the evening after a long hard day of work!
If you really want good sleep hygiene, you need to say goodbye to that precious “Friday night treat” - eating way too much chinese, with a glass of wine, while you stay up later than normal watching some shi*e movie.
So that begs the question. How realistic is this? And if you do achieve it, does it have that big of an impact on how you feel, physically and mentally?
Ultimately, is it something you should bother doing?? We’re gonna try it out and see.
So don’t give up on that Friday night chinese just yet. Instead, grab your headphones, throw on a sleep mask, take a big whiff of some lavender and let’s get to the bottom of this.
