Dr. Sarah Cigna joins me to discuss post orgasmic illness syndrome. She is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology with The GW Medical Faculty Associates. She is the current Director of the SAGA (Sexual Health and Gender Affirmation) Center and Director of the first Sexual Medicine Fellowship in the country for OBGYN physicians. In addition, she's a fellow of International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health (ISSWSH) and education committee chair.

The symptoms usually begin within seconds, minutes, or hours, and last for up to a week after orgasm. The cause and prevalence are unknown. This rare condition

What is it? This rare condition may include symptoms such as. . .

  • cognitive dysfunction
  • aphasia
  • muscle pain
  • fatigue
  • weakness
  • flu-like or allergy-like symptoms
  • headache, dizziness, lightheadedness
