You're listening to the Stoic Solutions Podcast - practical wisdom for everyday life inspired by the ancient tradition of Stoic Philosophy from Greece and Rome. I'm your host, Justin Vacula. Visit my website at StoicSolutionsPodcast.com. This is episode 108: Update on Jordan Peterson with guest Kai Whiting. I spoke with Kai Whiting about Jordan Peterson’s recent comments on marriage, namely that marriage is one’s best bet at happiness and that people who choose not to get married or have children are immature and deluded. We explain that a single life can be preferable to marriage and that one particular life path, specifically marriage, is not appropriate for everyone. Kai is a lecturer and researcher in Stoicism and sustainability at UCLouvain in Belgium. He recently published the book ‘Being Better: Stoicism for a World Worth Living In’ and has been active in stoic communities offering Stoic mentoring with The Walled Garden philosophical society. Kai’s spoken at numerous events, including Stoicon, and has authored several academic papers focused on Stoicism.
