In this episode, we focus on Team-Based Learning (TBL), a variety of flipped learning, and how this approach can help encourage students to prepare for lectures, seminars and other teaching sessions by creating a system of accountability. As this approach emphasises teamwork, it can also help students to develop teamwork and negotiation skills, as well as promote peer evaluation and critical thinking in the classroom. Best of all, TBL provides a clearly structured template for planning and delivering teaching sessions. Tab Betts talks to Simon Tweddell PHEA, who is a Senior Lecturer and Curriculum Development Fellow based in the University of Bradford’s Centre for Educational Development. Simon is also a National Teaching Fellow and Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy; he was the first certified consultant trainer for Team-Based Learning in the UK and is involved in promoting its use in other institutions across Europe.
