Welcome to Episode 16 of The Embers Podcast. Next up in our Celtic Mythology double bill, we have Lonan telling the story of the great Irish hero Cú Chulainn, and how he got his name. Accompanied on guitar by Tim Karp. The story is followed by a chat between Tim and Lonan, where they discuss The Hero's Journey (Joseph Campbell) and it's potential parallels in terms of modern/toxic masculinity, men's mental health and how we need to keep trying to get better. We also chat about our pals across the pond in Candlelit Tales and the wonderful stuff they're up to in Dublin. If you're struggling and you need someone to talk to, remember groups like The CALMzone, Samaritans and Mind offer many services including talking circles, help lines to call and advice on how to access mental health services. Cover photograph by Daniel Woodfield from a collaboration project a few years ago exploring mental health issues through photography and stories. Our podcasts are free, but if you would like to make a donation you can do so on the following link and it would be very much appreciated: https://ko-fi.com/theemberscollective Xx
