Yesterday at church, I did a sermon talking, in part, about the liturgy and practices of the church. I did a lot of explaining about why certain things were done. For example, creeds were a way to help illiterate Christians learn the basics of the faith.

Creeds hung on long after virtually everyone could read. They had become habit, and in large part continued because of that. I personally enjoy doing a congregational creed, but the point is we often start something for a good reason, and then keep doing it when that reason no longer exists.

The word "HABITS" upside down in vintage metal letterpress type in a dhadow box.

Can you think of anywhere in your marriage where you do something out of habit? There was a good reason for it in the past, but you kept doing it when that reason was long gone.

It’s a good idea to check your habits from time to time. Change or adjust based on your current reality.
