In this episode, we talk about burnout, what are the main causes of its existence and how to stop it.
Jonathan is an essayist, journalist, and scholar whose writing has been recognized as notable in Best American Essays (2019, 2020, 2021). His work has appeared among New York Times, The New Republic, Washington Post, and elsewhere.
He released his latest book early January 2022, The End of Burnout, why work drains us and how to build better lives. After having overcome a burnout himself, he went on a quest of figuring out, why he was not fulfilled in his previous job as a college professor. As he explains it, he found himself having a gap between what he expected from his dream job and his ideals of the job life.
In this episode we discuss:

  • How can you define burnout and how does it manifest in your life?
  • What is the difference between burnout and depression?
  • What is currently wrong with our work culture?
  • How can you manage your expectations around work, to prevent and build a better, burnout free life.
  • (and much more)

Happy listening!
