Mark Chalmers is the President and CEO of Energy Fuels, the leading U.S. producer of uranium and an emerging global player in the commercial rare earth business. He has consulted several key industry leaders in the uranium supply sector, including BHP, Rio Tinto, and Marubeni.

Chalmers holds a Bachelor of Science in mining engineering from the University of Arizona, is a registered professional engineer, and served as the Chair of the Australian Uranium Council for ten years. He holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Australia.

To set the stage for our interview, the U.S. is the largest producer of Nuclear Power (almost double China) and 24% of our enriched Uranium comes from Russia. The U.S. has banned Russian oil and natural gas, but not Uranium. According to the Energy Information Administration, as of 2022, 18% of U.S. energy comes from nuclear, versus 61% from fossil fuels and 21% from renewables.
