Using Instagram to Plan your Wedding: Our Dos and Don'ts
Manage episode 247318750 series 2506080
This week on The One Fab Day Wedding Podcast, we're covering a topic that we’ve been dying to discuss for quite a while: using Instagram to plan your wedding! Lots of couples tell us that they’ve found inspiration on the popular and sometimes all-consuming app, but it isn’t without its pitfalls! That's why we decided to put together an indispensable list of Dos and Don'ts. Our handy, wedding-centric user guide to Instagram includes lots of tips and tricks that you can apply to the popular wedding planning app (that isn't actually a wedding planning app at all!) For example, you'll learn why you should check your venue's location tag, but shouldn't DM your florist. Happy scrolling!
Episode Breakdown: Using Instagram to Plan your Wedding: Our Dos and Don'ts
Wedding tip: Claire's tip this week is to be careful who you share your full wedding photo gallery with, that is, if you don't want to be confronted with a giant print of your least-favourite photo every time you visit your parents' house! Instead, we recommend putting together a photo album for family (your photographer can help you with this) or creating a carefully-curated edit for them!
Main topic: We love Instagram as much as the next gals, and turn to it regularly for trendspotting and idea-gathering, but we also have a lot of opinions on how it should - and shouldn’t! - be used. We’ve seen couples run into trouble with Instagram finds, and get massively overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content in their feeds. So, in episode 40 of the One Fab Day Wedding Podcast, we wanted to present some Instagram wedding planning Dos and Don'ts, covering inspiration gathering, venue scouting, wedding dress shopping and everything in between!
Wedding dilemma: A listener writes, “We're six months out from the wedding day and the deposits are all paid. A few weeks ago, we got some feedback on our reception venue via the groom's mother. A friend of hers attended a wedding in our hotel and reported that, while the food was good, the service was 'not great'. I'm panicking as I imagine the criticism has been quite toned down before it gets to me. I'm also kicking myself because, when I think back to when we had lunch in the hotel bar on the day of the showcase, the wait and bar staff were forgetful and we waited a while for our food. This is a four-star brand name hotel, by the way. The hotel's wedding coordinator, who we met when booking, has since left the company and been replaced by a girl who is much less experienced and less organised. Most of our budget is going on this five-course meal and wine, and it's really bothering me that bad service could ruin that, and be the enduring memory of the day for our guests. So what can we do? Booking another venue is out of the question as deposits have been paid and guests have booked rooms. Would a day-of wedding planner help in this situation?” Our advice for this listener is to raise your concerns with the venue, and maintain perspective - mediocre service, while not ideal, is not likely to ruin the day for your guests.
Something to do when you're not planning your wedding: In this episode, Claire's recommending creating a lifelong bucket list with your partner!
