Welcome to the True Talk Café Podcast Ep. 8 - Mom vs Career: The Juggle Is Real!
It's May and we're celebrating Mother's Day! During the pandemic, working moms found themselves in a sort of a challenge having to merge the mom and sometimes wife duties with their work duties, all under one roof. The struggle was REAL! However, it was then that we learned about work-life integration.
Show agenda:
  • How did the battle of the mommy wars start?
  • Managing work-life integration
  • Challenges navigating the pandemic
    • Remote learning with kids
    • Sleep deprivation
    • Workplace discrimination
  • Retire the phrase "working moms"
  • Survey Results
      • Around 10 million U.S. mothers living with their own school-age children were not actively working in January 2021
      • 1.4 million more then during the same month last year according to the U.S. Census Bureau data.
      • The two most cited reasons moms were hit harder than dads:
o Mothers are more likely to work in service and other jobs heavily impacted by pandemic closures
o Mothers carry a heavier burden, on average, of unpaid domestic household chores and childcare, which during a pandemic that draws everyone into the home, disrupts parents’ ability to actively work for pay.
    • Guests:

  • Pod crew questions
    • Renee

  • Conclusion
