When we look at animals and how they are raised, you'll notice that the majority of animals are raised in captivity.
Cats, dogs, farm animals, certain birds and fish, and especially zoo animals.
Zoo animals that are raised in captivity have no idea of life outside of their enclosure. Their enclosure is their world.
They may or may not see the odd animal that is different to them if their enclosures are next to each other.
Otherwise it's just their own kind together.
Being kept in an 'open' prison. Never being able to leave of their own free will. This will have a huge effect on their behaviour, and the way they see their world.
To them the zookeeper is their God. Bringing them food, water and providing shelter, and maybe a couple of things to play with in their enclosure.
But are they happy with that life?
What would happen if they tried to escape and broke free?
The zookeeper would get out his tranquiliser gun and shoot it if it was a large animal that could cause destruction.
Now change the word animal for human…
Starting to get it now?
