Many of you have awesome app ideas.

Others…well, they could use some work ?

Over the last few years I've seen a lot of similarities in what works and what doesn't work in the app store.

Like all good things in marketing, they're fundamentals that we so often forget about.

Our ideas are different, right?!

Here's a quick 3 step process you can use to validate your app idea and make sure you're on track for some big wins.

What you need to know:

  1. Market validation. You need to make sure people actually want your app. It's not just about keyword research anymore – you need to find these people on social networks, blogs and the real world and understand who they are and what they need.
  2. Being different and/or better. Competition is real, whether you like it or not. In order to rise to the top, you must do something that separates you from the pack. This can be doing something different than everyone else OR it can be doing the same things as other people but doing it in a much better way.
  3. Make it simple. If you can't explain your app idea in one sentence, how do you expect your customer to understand in under 3 seconds? Simple ideas solve big problems. They also allow for clear goals and winning strategies. Even if your app is complicated, you must make the idea simple.

Follow this 3 part audit and you'll be on your way to the top!

Rock and roll,

CT
