In today’s episode we will look at what makes champions. It's loaded with a tremendous amount of great information. I believe that everyone is a champion but it’s a process. You don’t have to be in sports to be a champion; people that are their best in their sports are also designed or created to fulfill what they are passionate about.

I'll be reading directly from my book Closing the 18-inch Gap part of the chapter named the same title as this episode. It’s a small portion to get a better grasp of what I am speaking about. In this world that we live in its all about work, work and more work and no rest. That is not how to become a champion. Athletes are smart and they are well trained but also rest properly.

I talk about the sacrifices that need to be made, the things that you must ignore, the things they have to do, and not to. I look at different sports such as baseball, basketball, football, and swimming. There are so many things we can take from champions as we study the way they train and learn. There are also things you can learn of what not to do as not all champions behave that way.

I will also talk about what’s remembered and what's forgotten. For example, in baseball many will remember the famous home runs but not the many more strikeouts that were at bat for that baseball player. In basketball many will remember the famous games and the buzzer beaters but not remember every single missed shot. Yet to get to those gains you also go through many losses. Champions navigate through that to get to the top. So can you.

I speak a lot regarding mindset. Because that is a very important portion of being a champion. It’s not letting things get in your head all the time. Ignoring social media. Ignoring the many voices that surround you. Ignoring everything that doesn’t help you. It’s finding that life balance that your seeking. Too many people live in the either/or mentality when in fact you can live in the both/and mentality. You can have both. You are the champion you want to be. And I’m here to show you just how.
