SCAMS!!
The Story:
When a widow is cheated, nobody steps up to take responsibility. It’s a scam! Who is this guy? Where does the buck stop? The late Elder Rose Peltier reflects on the act of “Respect”, now and in the past, and passes along her wisdom and wishes.
The Discussion:
It takes bravery and social responsibility to counter this problem. Don’t be afraid to act. Officer Jason Cranny asks people to please report scams to authorities, and tells us why that’s so important. Counsellors David Root and Dorothy Wassegijig-Kennedy advocate stepping outside the box of service silos in open-hearted, responsive ways – which is necessary if you’re going to really help people asking for support – like talking to people in their own language. A survivor speaks about key steps in her journey as she sought to successfully help herself. Other discussion focuses on the role of friends and family, Band Council, seniors’ services, on/off reserve services and more.
