What does it take to break into sales after a 5-year + gap? How do you spring back after reaching rock bottom for the second time?
Today's episode of the Elite Level Podcast features Alan Singhavara, Sales Leader at Patsnap, a leading connection innovation intelligence platform based in Singapore. In a career that saw him move from sales to Chinese medicine and then again back to sales, Alan learned valuable lessons on not just becoming an exceptional sales professional, but a true leader in life.
Born to immigrant parents and being raised by a single mother for a significant part of his life (who worked two jobs to care for her family), Alan knew the importance and power of hard work in transforming your life. True to this, he worked exceptionally hard to succeed in his career and kept himself occupied in the sales grind until, one day, he realized he needed balance and that he couldn't miss out on the other essential life aspects.
Alan spent the next phase of his life learning Chinese medicine, seeking healing and personal development lessons. As also a martial arts instructor, the period taught him emotional, physical, and psychological balance. He learned to be more self-aware.
Over 5 years down the line, Alan ventured into sales once again – this time more informed of what he wanted and how he could help people and companies with his skills. He knew he would have to start as a sales representative again, and he did. He worked relentlessly hard, updating himself on the most recent business developments, and focused on growing in value, so he could also add value to the others in his organization.
In this episode of the Elite Level podcast, you'll learn why sales and sales leadership is more than the numbers: leadership, especially, is about helping your team grow; it's about providing others with the resources and guidance necessary for success. And if you ever face rock bottom again, know that you could spring back: what matters is how much you're willing to do for it.
Key talking points:
● The power of self-awareness
● Humility and hard work as the keys to success
● The mindset of a leader
● Not waiting for role assignment to start learning about it
