Hosts Ariane Andrew & Matt Dillon catch up with Juliet Landau; best known for playing fan-favorite “Drusilla” on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER & spin-off ANGEL) ahead of feature-length directorial debut A PLACE AMONG THE DEAD to chat the film, her legacy in pop culture and so much more.
A Place Among The Dead – a meld of fact, fiction, and the fantastical – is an exploration of the cultural obsession with vampires and what they reveal about the human psyche. Landau plays an alter-ego version of herself, as do the following actors who have what she likes to call “cameos on steroids” because they are much larger than traditional cameos: Gary Oldman, Ron Perlman, Robert Patrick, Lance Henriksen, Joss Whedon (Landau’s boss from Buffy) and Anne Rice, appearing for the first time in a film. The film delves into true crime, and the reality of when people take the fantasy of vampirism too far. It chronicles the fun, imaginative, creative side and alternatively, the dark, disturbing side.
