It is ok and important to create space for what matters most.

Stepping back is stepping in.

When you trust yourself and the universe and connect with your priorities you can create a life of spaciousness and alignment.

“What would self-compassion do?”

Why not step out of FOMO and step into trust and alignment?

It is uncomfortable and takes courage and it is worth it.

Ni-Cheng used to have lots of guilt and shoulds as a physician entrepreneur. Now she recognizes that she was coming from a sense of scarcity and her people pleasing tendencies. She now trusts herself enough to know that NOT setting up longitudinal courses is the right thing to do for her and her family at this moment - even though it feels uncomfortable.

She has begun to practice medicine the way she wants to practice it– incorporating integrative medicine and group clinic visits.

She is also focusing more on her children’s needs and her own physical health.

Despite the pressure on physicians to do more, you don't have to do it all.

In recent years there has been a strong message shared online that being a doctor is not enough and that it is important to have a back up plan “in case it all falls apart.” This messaging

capitalizes on scarcity mindset and the catastrophizing tendencies of physicians.

Physicians have incredible skills, education, and problem solving skills. They are able to successfully pivot, learn, grow, adapt, respond, shift and change. They are rarely in danger.

There is no scarcity of time or opportunities in a career in medicine.

Our old habits lead us to wonder - what’s the next training I need to do?

What’s next?

What can I learn more of?

In actuality, we are all enough just as we are in this moment, right now.

Could you give yourself permission to pause and simply be.

  • What are you shoulding yourself into doing?

  • How might you step back to step in?

  • How can you create space for what matters most?

The only way to work with Ni-Cheng currently is to hire her to give a talk or come to the Mindful Healers Connect in Nature Retreat. www.jessiemahoneymd.com/retreat-connect-in-nature.
