What If We're ALL Partially Right? (w/Stephanie Lepp)
Manage episode 439367555 series 1409494
Is it possible to synthesize & integrate opposing views while avoiding both-sides-ism or an anemic middle that is dependent on the extremes to define itself? Award winning producer and storyteller Stephanie Lepp shows us how to heal our most pernicious social divides. Watch the video version here.
She's the former Executive Producer at the Center for Humane Technology, the organization at the heart of the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma, which I analyzed in this video. Today, she leads Synthesis Media, an independent production studio devoted to accelerating the next enlightenment. Her latest production is Faces of X — a series of short videos that integrate different perspectives on divisive social issues. You can find Stephanie on Twitter @stephlepp.
Links to some of Stephanie's projects:
- Faces of X — a series of short videos that integrate different perspectives on culture war issues, like gender, abortion and race.
- Deep Reckonings — a series of explicitly-marked deepfake videos that imagine morally courageous versions of our public figures. Start with Brett Kavanaugh, and explore from there.
- Reckonings — a podcast that told the stories of people who've expanded their political worldviews, transcended extremism, and made other kinds of transformative change. Start with these episodes, and explore from there:
- A perpetrator and survivor of sexual assault who managed to work through it using restorative justice (intense but amazing story)
