Let’s face it. Most teens are prepared for tests, not for life. In school, we perform low-level procedures and memorize facts, things that AI can do perfectly. And worse this mindset comes at the expense of young people’s love of learning, curiosity, and creativity. Worse still AI is racing ahead while schools are banning the use of it. Our guest this week finds this trend unacceptable and is on a mission to equip young people with the skills they will need for the actual modern workforce.

After graduating from college at 18, Hannah Grady Williams set out to consult firms, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, including the likes of Chick-fil-A franchises, 9Round Fitness, and rapid-growth firms like Oakland Spine & Physical Therapy. With her unique perspective, she has influenced tens of thousands of leaders online through the #RadicalEmpathy movement. Now Hanna heads up d’Skills a unique after-school program designed to equip teens with in-demand skills and direct pathways to forge their own modern-day careers. d’Skills is on a mission to help one million teens graduate with an Impact Portfolio of skills and a deep network of connections and real-world experience.

In this episode, Hannah takes listeners on her incredible journey from homeschool to entrepreneurial innovator. Roger and Hannah discuss the evolving state of higher education while discussing the merits of trade and technical schools. Hannah helps listeners to decode the motivations and mindsets of digital natives while offering advice for young people considering their future. This episode is a must-listen for any parent or young person debating the pros and cons of college and higher education. Hannah’s insights and advice are a treasure trove of both research and real-world pragmatism that will both encourage and illuminate this topic for Generation X, Generation Z, and beyond!

Topics include:

  • Hannah’s Unique College & Early Work Experiences
  • Thoughts on Our Obsolete Educational Model
  • How Real World Experience Outways Theory
  • Decoding the Digital Native Mindset
  • Advice for Young People Considering Their Future
