She took her experiences in recovering from this experience and became a certified co-active coach, a certified trauma-informed coach and an associate certified coach through the International Coaching Federation. After becoming a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer, she was she assisted with the start up of the first Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit, specializing in sex crimes committed against children internationally, where she also conducted undercover operations online. Upon retiring from the police force, Dr. Palfy went on to obtain her PHD in Counseling Psychology from the university of Alberta, and is a trained trauma therapist a private practice focused on male survivors of sexual abuse. She is the author of a number of books including: "Men Too – the unspoken truths about male sexual assault" and her upcoming series Creating Personal Safety for Children. Nathan grew up in Australia with a loving family, until one day at the age of 8, Nathan was approached by a man at a public swimming pool who brutally raped him. Following this horrific event, Nathan’s perpetrator continued to insert himself into Nathan’s life - forming a relationship through grooming, threats and creating a sense of dependency. Once the abuse ended, Nathan’s life began to further spin out of control as he dealt with the psychological aftermath that was left behind. After living out his pain through dangerous and self-sabotaging behavior, Nathan was able to take control of his life and begin his healing journey. At the age of 4, one of his teachers discovered he was being abused. At that point, Dairius was removed from his home and sent to the first of 5 foster homes. During this time, Dairius was forced to take the stand in a trial to convict his father of sexual abusing him. Between the age of 4 and 6, Dairius was part of this judicial process that resulted in his father being sent to prison until Dairius turned 21 years old. The trauma Dairius experienced from the trial was compounded by his being moved from foster home to foster home, resulting is Dairius to question his very existence. But Dairius ultimately persevered, mostly through his own determination, and now joins us as a Lt. in the US Navy, having graduated from Purdue University.
