Stay updated with the latest Canada immigration news! In this podcast, we cover four major updates:

IRCC issued 5,649 invitations under the IEC

Canada just sent out over 5,600 invitations to young professionals under the International Experience Canada program! From July 29 to August 11, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada held new draws, inviting 5,649 candidates to apply for open work permits. Australia, Chile, and France led the pack with the most invitations, while smaller countries like Andorra and Iceland got just one invite each. With over 34,000 candidates still waiting in the pool, 2024 has already seen 106,426 invitations issued. Could you be next?

Saskatchewan experiences historic job growth and lowest unemployment rate

Saskatchewan just made history with a massive job surge! The province added 22,900 new jobs in July, the largest increase since July 2022, marking a 3.9% growth. This also pushed Saskatchewan to the lowest unemployment rate in Canada at 5.4%, beating the national average of 6.4%. Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison praised this achievement, saying it showcases the province’s economic strength. And in just one month, Saskatchewan's labor force grew by 6,700 jobs—a 1.1% jump from June. Saskatchewan is on the rise!

Canada is projected to surpass 500,000 new immigrants in 2024

Canada is gearing up to welcome over 500,000 new permanent residents in 2024! Despite a slight dip in June, the country has already welcomed 255,700 newcomers in the first half of the year. Ontario continues to be the top destination, drawing in over 41.6% of new immigrants. If the trend holds, Canada could see an 8.4% increase in new permanent residents compared to last year. Get ready—Canada’s about to get a whole lot bigger!

Canada to enhance regulations on Temporary Foreign Worker Program

Canada is tightening the reins on its Temporary Foreign Worker program! The Federal Government is set to enforce stricter regulations, especially for the low-wage stream. Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault announced that some TFW applications might be refused to prevent abuse and misuse. The focus is on protecting the health and safety of workers, with reforms aimed at eliminating fraud and exploitation. These changes will impact jobs paying below the median hourly wage, affecting industries like transportation, agriculture, and food and beverage. Big changes are on the horizon!
