Coffee doing more. That is what Más Coffee is all about. It’s even in their name because “Más” means “more” in Spanish so loosely translated, Más Coffee means “More Coffee”!

In episode 73, Genny spoke with David Pinto, who is a co-owner of Más Coffee along with his partner Cam Friesen. David is a full-time Physical Education teacher at Linden Christian School, and spends his evenings and weekends at the café, when he’s not chauffeuring kids or spending time with his family.

David shared that he’s always enjoyed coffee, especially during those late nights studying in high school and university. But the experience that changed his perception of coffee was visiting Phil & Sebastian coffee roasters in Calgary. It got him interested in finding different coffees and flavours and profiles, and became a goal to do something with coffee one day.

Initially, David and Cam wanted to roast their own coffee so they purchased a coffee roaster but realized that there was more work to be done to get it operational. They also realized their space at 70 Arthur Street was bigger than they thought so they decided to offer coffee and purchased coffee beans from Honduras (David was born in Honduras).

When asked what that means to them, David said they work in partnership with coffee growers and producers, ensuring they support fair wages, equality, and environmental diligence along the way. It's coffee doing more.
