With the country's population not only growing population but also becoming more upwardly mobile, the demand for homes in India is only expected to rise in the foreseeable future. With over 40 million square feet delivered in 2021 and an expected 46 million square feet to be delivered in 2022, and supplemented by major infrastructure projects ongoing in nearly all the country's metros, the impact of the Real Estate sector on Climate Change has become a focal point of debate in India's growth story.
To assess the role of Real Estate in climate change, and to understand how the industry can offset, mitigate and decouple these effects from its growth story, we have with us today a domain expert in Real Estate and sustainability - the Head of Sustainability at Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd., Dr. Sunita Purushottam.

Dr. Sunita has a PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay, and over 20 years of sustainability strategy and environmental consultancy experience in the areas of environmental impact assessment; air emissions modelling and more.

Drawing on her learnings from working on projects across the UK, United States, Mexico, South Africa and India, Dr. Sunita sheds light today on topics at the epicentre of Climate Change and Real Estate, such as climate responsive design, hot-house earth syndrome, and developing India's first net zero residential project, Mahindra Eden.

So, as always, join us for some Concrete Conversations, and get ready to unpack the nuances of Climate Change in Real Estate.
