Most doctors and surgeons who are well into their careers suffer from acute lower back pain, but the cause and severity often come down to the individual experiencing it. Today, Dr. Stucki walks us through his personal journey from suffering through back pain to having a healthy spine with feedback and valuable advice from returning guest, Dr. Ben Hechler, the inspiring Medical Director of Blue Cross, North Carolina. Dr. Stucki shares his keys to spine health, which include a healthy and balanced diet, exercising regularly and improving core strength, staying on top of your mental health, using the right equipment, and working less, to name just a few. You'll also learn what residents could be doing to prevent spine issues down the line, why you should always involve those close to you in your journey of getting your health back on track, and some pro tips for dental syringes and PRFs, plus so much more!

Key Points From This Episode:

  • Pro tips for using dental syringes and PRFs.
  • Dr. Stucki’s painstaking journey to a healthy spine.
  • How changing his diet made everything better.
  • The role of the emotional and psychological in exacerbating or alleviating back pain.
  • What doctors and surgeons need to be wary of when using loupes.
  • Dr. Stucki’s keys to spine health:
  1. Spread patients out and take at least one day off in the middle of the week.
  2. Eat an anti-inflammatory diet like the Longevity Paradox by Dr. Gundry
  3. Change positions frequently while working: switch sides, get up, stand, sit, or stretch.
  4. Sit in a saddle seat like the USA Patented Multi Adjustable Saddle Stool with Backrest by Kanewell for $399.00.
  5. Keep your back and neck straight as possible, keep your elbows in, and be conscious of unnecessary muscle tightening in your shoulders
  6. Use loupes to keep the spine upright, but be aware that they may cause neck pain
  7. Do core building exercises like the cat/cow, bird dog, and side plank
  8. Take walks between patients if possible.
  9. Meditation to improve mental health and decrease muscle tension in the body
  10. Yoga
  11. Avoid high-risk activities like dangerous sports and home construction projects.
  • Dr. Hechler’s thoughts on Dr. Stucki’s keys to spine health.
  • Why many residents establish poor posture from the start (and how to change this trend).
  • The dangers of nanoplastics and more on the importance of a good diet.
  • Why you should try to involve your loved ones in your health journey.
