Hello, you’re listening to High Blood Pressure Wellness Lifestyle Podcast with Donna Williams. Its winter here in the USA and it is tempting to just curl up and hibernate as winter rolls on. But as the weekend approaches, it's tempting to either pack it with activities or completely unwind. However, creating a weekend routine that rejuvenates you for the week ahead is crucial for maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life.

Hi, I’m Donna Williams, Certified Holistic Health Coach, owner and creator of infoonhighbloodpressure.com website. I run short, whole foods based detoxes for beginners, where I teach and guide my community, that’s dealing with chronic illnesses they have had for a while. Or sometimes they are going through an emotional time they didn't expect, and they find themselves eating poorly.
Winter isn't just about cozy sweaters and warm drinks; it's also about staying active during these colder months. It is so crucial for your physical and mental well-being. So lets think of how you can assess your needs and your current state of wellbeing by asking yourself some questions:

  • How do I feel physically? (Energy levels, sleep patterns, physical ailments)
  • How is my mental state? (Stress levels, anxiety, depression)
  • What are my emotional needs? (Feeling loved, understood, valued)
  • Am I fulfilled spiritually? (Sense of purpose, connection to a higher power or values)

Here are a few of my favorite practical weekend habits that can refresh your body and mind, preparing you for a successful week ahead.

1. Prioritize Sleep.
2. Nourish Your Body.
3. Engage in Physical Activity.
4. Mindfulness and Relaxation.
5. Digital Detox.
6. Social Connections.
7. Plan for the Week Ahead.
8. Pursue a Hobby or Interest.
9. Reflect and Practice Gratitude.
10. Set Boundaries.
By incorporating these tips into your weekend, you can create a balanced routine that refreshes and prepares you for the week ahead.
During the Winter season there are some incredibly nutritious fruits. I’m going to mention just my top 5 winter fruits and to let you know why they should be a part of your diet: Oranges; Pomegranates; Grapefruits; Persimmons; Cranberries.
