In this new "Founder Series" episode, Maria Ceballos-Wallis interviews the renowned interpreter, Janis Palma. They discuss the fascinating evolution of the court interpreter profession, essential techniques and tools every court interpreter should wield, and the critical art of making interpretations truly comprehensible for the listener.

Janis Palma is an English-Spanish interpreter and translator with over 40 years of experience. She became federally certified as a judiciary interpreter in 1981, certified by NAJIT as an interpreter and translator in 2004, and is licensed by the State of Texas as a Master Court Interpreter as of 2017. Janis has been actively involved in the training and education of judiciary interpreters since 1986, specializing in consecutive interpreting techniques. Her most recent project is IKIGAI, a nonprofit organization created to further education and training for proficient bilingual individuals so they may become qualified and competent interpreters, principally in courts and other legal settings.
