All the dieting in the world may not help you. In other words, there's more to wellness than a healthy diet. The word wellness is most often used to describe an aspirational state of physical health, attained by attention to diet and lifestyle. This episode expands on this and emphasizes the impact of integrating authentic connection with family, friends, colleagues, spirit, and the natural world.

To share these often overlooked pillars, we invited Dr. Alona Pulde and Dr. Matthew Lederman to the show. They both have spent decades treating chronic illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disorders, and obesity with their diet and lifestyle medical practices. With Whole Foods Market cofounder John Mackey, they coauthored The Whole Foods Diet and The Whole Foods Cookbook. They also authored the NY Times best seller The Forks Over Knives Plan, Forks Over Knives Family, and Keep It Simple, Keep It Whole.
