Today on the LLVLC Show, we have the second of a two-part conversation about MASKGATE at the Hub City Farmer’s Market.

“The posts that we made were very clearly indicating that we support equality for all. We’re not saying that black lives don’t matter. What an absurd thing for someone to say in the 21st century.”

Travis Childers

In today’s show, Jimmy shares Part 2 of a special 2-part LLVLC Show investigative report looking into a story about an incident that recently happened at his local farmer’s market in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Just over a month ago, one of the longtime animal foods vendors at the Hub City Farmers Market named Travis Childers from Old Paths Farm was banned from being at the market because he refused to wear a mask. Something didn’t seem right about this story, so Jimmy dug deeper to see what really happened.

WATCH PART 1 HERE: https://youtu.be/kePukEXNaOA

Jimmy interviewed Travis to get his side of the story and responds to the claims made about him by the Executive Director of the Hub City Farmers Market Jordan Wolfe in my previous interview. Tune in to hear how he attempted to communicate his concerns privately, the frustration he felt that he wasn’t being heard, his faithfulness in support the Hub City Farmers Market for the past 7 years, the increased aggression being shown towards him by the market manager, his concern with having politics mixed in with a nonpartisan community group like the farmers market, and how this entire incident was preventable had there been better communication all around. It’s an unfortunate tale in what NOT to do when conflict arises.

NOTE: Travis and his Old Paths Farm business has successfully moved to the nearby Landrum, SC Farmers Market who do not play politics and do not require him to show proof of the hokey pokey or wear a mask. You can visit him there on Saturdays from 8-12PM: https://agriculture.sc.gov/farmers-markets/landrum-farmers-market/
