TW: Discussion of domestic violence. My guest, Nichole Myles, is a survivor and speaker who talks about post-traumatic growth, resilience, and trauma-informed practices. We had so much to talk about that this interview will be broken up into two parts - with today’s focus being building resiliency and trauma-informed practices.

We will discuss:

  • Building resilience after abuse and trauma
  • Fostering and finding resilience
  • Healing from trauma and abuse
  • Thriving after an abusive relationship
  • Stories from a survivor of domestic violence
  • Trauma-informed language
  • Empowering yourself as a survivor of abuse and trauma
  • Negative self-talk and trauma from mental and emotional abuse
  • Toxic positivity and toxic gratitude
  • Post-traumatic growth and healing
  • Talking about trauma
  • Pink cloud behavior
  • Validating your children’s feelings
  • Supporting someone in an abusive relationship
  • Victim mentality vs Survivor mentality
  • We are not victims, we are survivors

Whenever I talk about domestic violence, I like to include the hotline that you can call or text if you are in that situation. You can contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline by calling 1-800-799-SAFE or by texting “start” to 88788. You are not alone. And you do not have to go through this alone.
