KIM Shamsiddin is the founder and creative director of Al Shams Exceptional Islamic Apparel. Frustrated by the limited choices for luxury Islamic clothing in the U.S., Kim set out to create beautiful dresses that are both aesthetically appealing and adhere to tradition. In 2014, she introduced Al Shams, featuring the exclusive Signature Slim Trim Cuff.
Inspired by her global travels to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean, Kim's design aesthetic embodies sumptuous textiles, rich hues and a blend of textural elements. It is these core elements that define and shape the hallmarks of the Al Shams brand: sophistication, luxury and timeless elegance. Muslimahs love the beauty of the drape and flow of a well crafted abaya and "our dresses are for the Muslimah who loves to cover elegantly and beautifully" says Kim.
Born and raised in New York City, Kim currently resides in New Jersey with her husband Abdul-Alim and her frisky kitty Lil Mama. A Wall Street attorney, U.S. Army veteran and former undercover NYPD officer, Kim enjoys working-out, healthy eating, listening to Dawah lectures and spending time with family.
