Introduction

Welcome to today's episode, where we’ll be diving into a topic that affects so many of us — mental health — and the powerful role that exercise plays in improving it. I’m Jon Bond, and with over 25 years of experience as a trainer and coach, plus a Master’s degree in Strength and Conditioning focused on exercise and mental health, I’ve seen firsthand how transformative physical activity can be for mental well-being.

Today, we’re going to explore how exercise goes beyond just physical benefits. We’ll talk about how it helps to naturally increase key “feel-good” chemicals in the brain — serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, and oxytocin. These neurotransmitters and hormones play a huge role in boosting mood, reducing stress, and helping you feel more connected and positive. Whether it’s improving focus, managing anxiety, or simply feeling happier, exercise can be one of the most effective ways to take care of both your body and mind.

So, if you’ve ever wondered why you feel so much better after a workout, stick around as we break down how these chemicals work and how regular physical activity can help you improve your mental health!
