In 1976, Ed founded Peachtree Movers in Atlanta and operated the business for nearly 24 years. Peachtree Movers was chosen "Number 1" in office moving by the Gallop Poll and received the coveted Atlanta Consumer's Choice Award. Ed sold his office moving inventions to move companies across the USA, Canada, Australia, and the UK.

Ed is a well-known and respected moving & storage industry veteran. It has been said, that if you could pick someone to teach you how to become a successful office mover, it would be Ed Katz. In 1987, Ed saw the opportunity to educate moving companies to be more efficient and profitable with moving offices and formed the International Office Moving Institute (IOMI).
